Project One
Fantasy Appliance
The photo above will be my reference for project one, Fantasy Appliance.
For this assignment I have done some contemplating about the appliance I felt would work best for my project. I decided that I would no longer use a lamp but instead the lightbulb inside.
I want to create a mixture of part lightbulb part bumble bee where the bulb is its tail/body but still flows nicely with the composition.
I took a screenshot of the image I created in illustrator of the light bulb.
The following photo is one I found online. I am using it as a background.
A work in progress!
From this point I want to manipulate the lightbulb to look as if it is apart of an insect.
To create my "Bee-bulb" creature, I used an image I found online to then traces out its upper body and wings. I decided to use the bulb as his tail or its bottom. Which can be seen in the next image.
This is my most updated progress in the project. I decided to create this composition using a bee with my appliance, the light bulb, because I tend to associate light and the imagery of light with bring attention and awareness. In recent years Bees as a species has began to dwindle which I feel should gain more attention and awareness due to how important they are too the ecosystems they inhabit.
I would love some constructive criticism! Please share your ideas.
Awwe that's such a cute idea! The background is done really well and I like how the sun shines through the bulb a bit. I think you should texture the bee's body though to make it fuzzy. It would add a lot to the image.
ReplyDeleteI think this is really cool! I think its very creative that you made the bulb into a bee. It looks great so far.
ReplyDeleteI really love your concept! I like the fact that you decided to go with the lightbulb instead of a lamp, because that seems like the more interesting choice. I am excited to see what it looks like fully developed. I the texture of a fuzzy bumblebee will be a really nice contrast to the smooth edges of a lightbulb.
